Prepare the printer for first use.

Preparing Power, Ink Tanks, and Paper

Important

  • Do not connect a USB cable or Ethernet cable while preparing the printer.

  1. Check accessories.

    Make sure the accessories shown in the following illustration are supplied.

    Important

    • The Setup CD-ROM is for Windows only.

    • The disc tray is on the back of cassette 1 (upper).

  2. Remove protective materials and turn on printer.

    • Remove the orange tape and film on the outside as well.
    • When printing starts, the paper output tray opens automatically. Do not leave anything in front of the printer.

  3. Install ink tanks.

    • Remove the orange tape completely.

  4. Load A4 plain paper.

    • Alternatively, use Letter size plain paper.
    • The loaded paper will be used for a test print.

    When the following screen appears, tap OK.

  5. Select how to use printer.

    When connecting to computer/smartphone/tablet

    When using printer only without connecting to computer/smartphone/tablet

    6. Connecting via Wireless LAN

    1. Tap Wireless LAN connection.

      Select connection method screen: Select Wireless LAN connection

    2. Tap Yes.

      Wireless LAN connection screen: Connect a computer or smartphone, etc. to the printer with wireless LAN

      When the following screen appears, perform setup to make the printer ready for use.
      Set up a connection between the printer and computer, smartphone, or tablet, or install applications by referring to this site.

      Performing initial adjustments screen: Meanwhile, see Getting Started and continue with the setup procedure on the computer or smartphone, etc.

      Note

    Connecting via Wired LAN

    1. Tap Wired LAN connection.

    2. Tap Yes.

      When the following screen appears, connect the printer to a network device such as a router with an Ethernet cable.

    3. Tap OK.

      When the following screen appears, perform setup to make the printer ready for use.

    Connecting via USB

    1. Tap USB connection.

      Select connection method screen: Select USB connection

    2. Tap Yes.
